You don’t need rights to show a movie… once you own the DVD or blu-ray it’s yours to watch and show.

Are you charging people to see the movie ? If not you normally don’t need it…To get permission…You need to goto the publisher of the movie…If you look on the movie label it will usually tell you.. Copyrighted by so and so to All rights reserved…Go to their web site…Find the contact for that Publisher…and ask…They’ll usually put you in the right direction…Good Luck take Care

Although you are technically meant to obtain rights before you show a movie to an audience, nobody’s going to prosecute you for it. Even so, it might be best to ask a teacher at the school about it - if they have some system about how they obtain rights to show movies in class sometimes (end of term treat or whatever) you could use that system. It probably also depends on whether you’re charging admission to see the movie or just letting people see it for free - if you’re not making a profit from it, it’s a fairly trivial offence at best. Even so, ask a reliable teacher.
